More Info: Castillejo de Robledo (Soria) is a remote area within Ribera del Duero with three very distinctive characteristics:
1) High altitude. Around 980m above sea level, the high altitude provides a cooling effect even on summer nights.
2) The soil. Made mainly of limestone, the soil is very poor and pebbly, forcing the roots to grow far into the ground providing a beautiful base for the vines to take hold.
3) A rolling landscape of hills and valleys that provide endless orientations to grow the grapes.
Together these characteristics create a dry climate with cold winters and hot summers but with a great thermal difference between day and night, allowing the grapes to ripen fully but at a slower rate, maintaining the necessary acidity needed to produce a beautifully balanced wine.
