Welsh Wine Week Events

 

This year’s Welsh Wine Week will be celebrated between Friday the 24th of May and Sunday the 2nd of June. To mark the occasion we have organised a range of events to introduce you to the delightful world of Welsh wine. Read on for more information!

Welsh vs English Wine Tasting 

A special wine tasting event featuring Welsh and English wines will take place in Cardiff this May.

Hosted by Vin Van Cymru and Avant Wine, the event will spotlight the very best of Welsh and English wines in a tournament-style tasting to kickstart this year’s Welsh wine week (Fri 24th May - Sunday 2nd June).

The event will present 6 exceptional British wines across three rounds; sparkling, white and red. The winner of each round will be determined by a blind vote with the overall champion receiving an unofficial certificate and bragging rights (on behalf of their respective country). 

In addition, there will be a bonus round introducing two alternative wines in order to showcase the diversity and innovation present within the British wine industry.

This will be a fun and informative event where we will discuss grape varieties, climate, wine styles and the exciting future of British wines.

The Welsh vs English Wine Tasting is taking place on Thursday the 23rd of May between 7pm and 9pm at Vin Van Cymru, The Corp Market, Cardiff. More information about the event and how to book tickets can be found HERE

 

By The Glass at Bacareto with Vin Van Cymru

Tuesday the 28th of May - 7-9pm - Bacareto , Church Street Cardiff

Celebrate Welsh Wine Week with By The Glass (formerly known as Cardiff Cider Club). A love child of Burum Collective, the group organises tastings, events and educational sessions on all good drinks.

"The Session: Sara Hobday from Vin Van Cymru will be talking us through one of her favourite topics: Welsh Wine. Pouring wine from makers like Llaethliw, The Dell, and more. All supplied by Vin Van Cymru.

Sara is a big advocate and supporter of the Welsh wine industry. We are very excited to be inviting her to join us at Bacareto to celebrate Welsh Wine Week 2024!

Food: Optional add on cheese plate! At Bacareto the cheese is supplied by Ty Caws, and bread supplied by Riverside Sourdough. The main Bacareto crostini and cicheti menu will also be available for you to order on the night."

Meet The Dell Vineyard Wine Tasting

Do you have a burning question about Welsh wine, grape growing, or the Welsh wine industry? This is your chance to engage with a Welsh vineyard owner, ask questions, and expand your knowledge about this growing industry.

Get up close and personal with The Dell Vineyard's Lucy Alford, learn about the inspiration behind each wine and gain a deeper understanding of what makes Welsh wines so special.

We'll be tasting two of their white wines, a rosé, a Col fondo sparkling, their brand new Pinot Noir and finishing off with a limited edition Welsh Pinot Noir infused gin. 

This unique tasting experience also offers you the opportunity to purchase a bottle of their exclusive red wine, not available through other retailers.

Enjoy an intimate and informative evening of Welsh wine tasting with a passionate Welsh vineyard owner.

Wonderful Wales Wine Tasting

Get ready for a taste adventure with our wonderful Wales wine tasting!

We're bringing you 6 of the very best from Welsh vineyards, including a vibrant fizz, aromatic & crisp whites and big, fruity reds. 

Come along on this fun journey through Welsh wine, where every sip is a nod to the unique and vibrant wine scene of Wales.

With each Wonderful Wales wine tasting ticket you will get a tasting glass and a tasting sheet. Pop into the shop for your wine taster, grab yourself a table or mill around the market and enjoy at your own pace!
