More Info: Adega de Penalva do Castelo is a Dão winery revived by Abegoaria, a winemaking project led by the Bio family. Originally from Alentejo, Ana and Manuel Bio have invested in Portugal’s wine heritage modernising facilities and revitalising wineries in historic wine regions. Penalva's wines are made using traditional grape varieties grown on the region’s rugged, granitic terrain by local farmers in the district of Castendo. The region's altitude as well as the Serra de Estrela providing protection from the elements creates a very particular microclimate that helps produce extremely distinguished wines.
