Tasting Notes: A deliciously full-bodied wine with tons of warming qualities. Cherries and figs on the palate with hints of chocolate and herby spice thanks to 4 months in oak. Smooth, concentrated and full of flavour.
Region: Yecla, Spain
Varieties: 100% Monastrell
Pairing: Anything dark, sticky, garlicky and hoisin-y. Also great with anything in Cantonese sauce.
More Info: Bodegas La Purísima was founded in 1946 by several farmers who joined forces in order to improve the quality of Yecla wines. Their determination and desire to produce great wines finally led, in 1975, to their receiving the Denomination Origin title. This was a huge achievement for these farmers who, limited by the border of the municipality, registered the Yecla Denomination of Origin nº 27 in line with the prestigious French AOC. Nowadays Bodegas La Purísima is one of the most important wineries in the region, and remains loyal to the spirit of its founders: Quality and Authenticity. They have almost 100 Ha of ungrafted old Monastrell vines, authentic vines which have grown on their land since the beginning.
